Do you ever have those nights where everyone wants something different? He wants chili dogs, she wants pizza! I say put them together and make a master piece.
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup wheat bran
1 tablespoon dry active yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
11/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 tablespoon dried basil
3/4-1 cup very warm water
1/2 medium onion minced
2 cloves garlic minced
1 bag Morning Star meal starter crumbles
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 chipotle pepper chopped
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin, salt and black pepper
1 cup water
1/2 package apple wood smoked turkey dogs
2 turkey smoked sausage links
1/2 cup minced yellow onion
1 cup shredded cheddar
Place the flour, sugar, bran, yeast, salt and spices in a stand mixer with hook attachment. Stir the dry ingredients. Add the water in slowly until a dough ball forms and pulls away from the sides. Let this run for 10 minutes. Remove the bowl from the mixer, coat the dough ball in olive oil, cover and set in a warm place to rise. Add the olive oil to a preheated sauce pan over medium heat. Add the onions, let this cook for a few minutes until the onions start to turn translucent. Add the garlic and let cook for a couple of minutes. Add the spices and stir well. Let the spices cook for about a minute then add the meal crumbles. Stir well to coat with the spices. Add the ketchup, mustard and water. Let simmer until the water is gone. Now is the time to cut the hot dogs into pieces and shred the cheese. Set this aside. The dough should be double in size by now. Punch it down and place it on a lightly floured surface to roll it out for the pizza crust. Lay this on your baking pan. I like to take any extra dough and make a nice thick crusted edge by rolling it. Place the empty dough in a 400 degree oven for about 5 minutes. Remove this and add the chili sauce, layer on the hot dogs and onions. Sprinkle on the cheese and place the pizza back in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
